2024 & 2025
Moonlight and Starlight in 2025
As 2025 begins…
In the earlier winter months, the pair were sighted a handful of times around the West and South of the island, where they swam, foraged and leapt in the cold winter seas. As the weather warmed, we began to see Moonlight and Starlight out at sea more frequently. Between May and June, the two were seen 31 times! Much like in previous years, during hot summer days, the pair passed a lot of time in bays with wide, sandy beaches and lots of people on the water, like Peel, Port St Mary and Port Erin, with Peel being the most frequented so far this year. Throughout May, the pair were often seen and filmed in Port Erin by Aquabike Isle of Man, who operate water sports activities in the harbour. These curious dolphins can be seen approaching kayaks and paddleboards as well as leaping and playing in the water nearby!

As the year continues...
In June, between the 10th and 11th, Moonlight and Starlight swam from Port St Mary to Laxey and then to Peel! While we can’t be exactly certain of the path they took, this distance measures around 65 miles, demonstrating their incredible speed and circumnavigation abilities once more. The pair continue to be seen exclusively together as Starlight grows stronger and more confident. We can’t wait to see what else this duo will get up to this year so keep your eyes peeled and get spotting!
