Ocean Crafts

Ocean Crafts

Ocean Crafts take place every school holiday and offer a platform for children to make a craft using recycled materials whilst learning about marine life. Sessions last 1.5 hours and cost £5 with a discount for members of our Young Ocean Observers Club. Ocean Craft sessions are typically organised a couple of weeks in advance and are advertised on our Facebook page and the online events calendar.

Whale School

Whale School is aimed at older children and introduces marine mammal science through practical tasks.

Each child makes a craft to take home. Sessions last 2 hours.

Here are some examples of Whale School activities from summer 2023

Photographing fins! Learn how scientists use photos to recognise individual dolphins. Make a wearable Risso’s dolphin dorsal fin to take home.

Greedy Giants– Discover how huge whales feed, look at real-life baleen plates, play the baleen game experiment and make a baleen mask to take home

Fact files– Create your very own marine life fact file to take home and build upon over time
