I recorded 7 separate individuals swimming north east. Quite spread out, and some very close in towards the base of the cliffs. 1 only 10 or so meters out and the water was so clear I could see them underwater, looking from the top of marine drive. Very clear views.
2 were swimming close together, one of which had 2 very distinctive black circular markings on the tip of its dorsal fin.
Another individual had a very distinctive large white “keyhole” marking on its back between its blowhole and dorsal fin.
All individuals swimming slowly and fairly directly north east, coming to the surface frequently. Though one individual came closer to the shore and swam around a bit. Peter Duncan saw them 10/15 minutes later around Douglas Head and can confirm the I.D. He also took a video. Peter thinks he saw 9.
