From the end of the runway we spotted an individual 500m out to sea coming inwards towards Turkeylands where it frequently surfaced in the same spot about 100m from the shore. After five minutes it headed out to 500m again and was seen surfacing regularly with another two animals of the same species.
After the dolphins had moved out to sea a much smaller animal with a stumpy fin was seen in the same area where the first Risso’s had been surfacing. I think it was a harbour porpoise.
